7 weeks old

Ayra’s 7 weeks plus now.. approaching the 2 month mark… in 8 days!

My lil girl is growing up fast… I realized this rather recently when I noticed most of her newborn clothes are getting a tad bit too snug for her, and she will grow out (actually, I think she already did, only I still stuff her into them) of her pretty sleepsuits very very soon!! I stored away most of the clothes she got as presents from people as I thought most of them were too big for her to wear then, but few days ago I rummaged through the items again and lo and behold! She could already fit into half of them. Even the 3-6 months’ clothes. My lil girl is gaining weight and flesh and most certainly gaining more height! I only realized how healthy she is when a friend brought her 4-month-old and laid them down side by side. Ayra’s only falls short by a mere few cms I kid u not. Of course, this leaves me beaming with delight but at the same time, I get a squeamish feeling in my tummy at the realization that the little girl might be growing up a bit too fast for me to digest :D

Updates on lil kiddo:

  • She can now smile, on cue. She is beginning to become amused by us making faces at her and smile and almost laugh (albeit sound-less) a lot, accompanied with excited movements of hands and legs. Ohhh doesn’t that make us beam with pride and joy!
  • She spends more and more time awake, some days not wanting to nap during the day, except for half hours here and there. It’s getting harder to get her to stay asleep for long during the day, but alhamdulillah so far we haven’t had problems getting her sleeping at night; it’s only the initial putting-her-down-in-her-cot that’s hard.
  • She also wants to sit up more, I will sit her up in the nursing pillow and play with her, listening to her coos and gaggles.
  • She drools!!! Lots!!! If we carry her over our shoulders, you can be sure of a trickling puddle of her drool down our backs. Likewise for wherever we lay her on her tummy. And wherever her mouth touches. I think she just discovered she has saliva and is beginning to explore this new thing in her mouth. She choked on her saliva a few times already, and will cough this cute lil cough when she does hehehe.
  • She doesn’t cry half as much as she used to, my lil girl is really getting used to life outside the womb. Though she is still very very clingy and ‘manja’ as she loves sleeping in our arms and will open her eyes wide the moment we lay her down!
  • She drinks a whole lot more I think!!! Always always hungry my lil one.
  • Her limbs are more relaxed. She opens her hands more, her hand and legs are straighter when she’s lying down, and she learnt to grab and hold things (namely our fingers)
  • Her response are much faster now. If before this, she’s turned to the left and u call her on the right, it will take some time for her to turn. Now, call her name and whoosh! She’s turned hehehe.
  • She is still afraid of the water!! Bathing time, washup time, washing her bum-bum after poo2 is sooo painful on the ears!!! Anyone has any tips on how to make a baby NOT be afraid of the water?

We went for casting for a tv advert, Ayra and me. I shall not disclose details as of yet as nothing is confirmed. They wanted babies aged 3 months to a year and I just brought her in as a last-minute favour for a friend who worked at that production house. She practically begged me to come and get Ayra photographed. I personally think Ayra’s a tad bit too young for this as she can’t even hold up her head yet, but well, it didn’t hurt to help a friend :)

Items we recently bought Ayra:

  1. A steam sterilizer. Initially I thought we didn’t need one, but it is of so much convenience I’m glad we got it.
  2. A Fisher Price bouncer. Though it’s expensive no doubt, I can’t wait for Ayra to start playing while sitting on it!!
  3. Socks. The lil girl with long feet has outgrown most of her newborn socks hehe.
  4. Long pants. I have been dressing her with almost nothing else but onesies and rompers during the day that she doesn’t have long pants to go out in.

If the advert thing goes well, perhaps I shall get her more toys hehehe.
