Last checkup: 21/2/2007
Weight at last checkup: 54.5 kg. Gained 6.5 kg. Aim to gain 0.5 kg per week.
By now, your baby probably weighs almost 4 pounds and is almost 17 inches long. Her toenails and fingernails have grown in completely. Some babies have a head of hair already; others have only peach fuzz. Your baby is taking up a lot of space in your uterus, but those tight quarters shouldn’t reduce her activity level. You may have heard that it’s normal for babies to slow down later in pregnancy, but that’s not true. If you notice any reduction in your baby’s movements, call your healthcare provider.
My goodness that is big… well I’m not too sure la how big she really is, the scan will be this Saturday and I can’t wait!!! Miss looking at the little kiddo in my tummy hehehe, though she never fails to make her presence felt of course. So far I haven’t felt any reduction in activity, but her body parts are so much more distinct now. I can tell the difference between legs and hands now, and the times when she decides to push her legs from my ribs right down to my waist or further down, you can even see the small part making it’s way inside. Feels damn funny and ticklish, but at times it hurts!!!
The hiccups are also much louder and shakes the whole tummy, can be felt (and seen) without having to touch the tummy at all hehehehe. I wonder if she’s fully turned upside down now hmmm. Most of the time the hiccups are felt hardest way down yonder but there are still times it’s high up. Please don’t be a breech baby kiddo!! I’m getting breathless a lot now, it’s hard to get a deep breath in. She jams her body parts into my ribs a lot now, must be running out of space poor baby. But that makes it harder for me to breathe and to sit proper, especially when driving. It’s starting to hurt whenever she wriggles or turns inside me, but I’m sure she didn’t mean to hurt me right kiddo? It’s just due to her size.. Of course the backaches are also getting worse.. as well as something else.
There’s a byproduct at the end of pregnancy that many women do not know about: sciatic nerve pain.
Your sciatic nerve is one really big nerve that goes from your butt down to your ankle. If you’re pregnant and feel a little nerve pain anywhere from your bottom all the way down your leg, congrats, that is your sciatic nerve going off.
I get this a lot too, suddenly, usually starting from the butt. Hmmmm….. THAT is making me waddle involuntarily coz it’s so hard to walk proper when it strikes!
And after going about a month puke-free, this morning I puked!!! Gahhhh!!! I seriously thought that THAT phase was over. But I’m taking it all with a stride, coz the daddy comforted me by saying it’s a one-off incident. (Keeping fingers crossed) I feel extra extra HUGE nowadays, with all the waddling and clothes noticeably getting tighter, and kiddo having growth spurts! I swear there are times I feel like the tummy is bigger when I wake up in the morning as compared to the night before. I started to feel my own weight is almost too much for my legs to handle, I consciously feel heavy now and tire oh-so-easily and fast. Hmmmph. Not too long now right, by 36 weeks she will be considered full term! That’s like, less than 4 weeks away!! And I am about 8 months preggy now!!!!!! Arrrgghhhhh *bite nails*
On the other hand, the ‘nursery’ is almost almost complete. We moved all of kiddo’s stuff into the guest room downstairs, which will be the baby’s room/nursery. Cot complete, with 2 new cot sheets and loads more pass-downs, cot bumpers etc etc. Even got new latex mattress and pillows, and Mom is getting the safety sleeper thingys. Clothes are aplenty, all the basic necessity stuff are there, all that’s left is to wash all the things and wait for her arrival. Now my concern is for me; i.e. the nursing bras, the pump accessories etc etc. This is to start kiddo off on the bottles to ease the transaction when I have to return to work, although for now it seems a long long time away hehehe. I have to prepare from now right, would be hard to get Daddy to do the running around for my pump stuff during my confinement.
So there…. till the next update, toodles!
