Last checkup: 3/3/2007
Weight: 54 kg (yeah I know I am wondering why there is a 0.5kg drop too hehehe). Waistline 36 inches
Baby’s weight: 2.2 kg (wow she’s getting bigger!!)
Fetal development in pregnancy week 33: For all the weight and bulk you’re lugging around these days, you’d think your little champ should weigh much more than a mere 5 lbs and measly 17 inches in height, but nope, that’s about the average size for a baby in its thirty-third week. In terms of appearances, they’re getting cuter and pudgier every minute—just piling on the baby fat and those adorable little wrist rolls and chubby toes. And as we’re sure you’ve already noticed they’re getting stronger with every passing day. Nowadays, it’s possible to observe a well-placed kick just by watching your belly—but you already knew that didn’t you? Although they’re getting stronger, your bigger-by-the-day baby is losing space to move around, so the actual rate of movement will drop off in the last few weeks, despite that powerful drop-kick they’ve been working on. Did you know you’ll continue feeling their movements even during labor?
Wow that last bit there I didn’t know, I thought babies would be quiet during labor, because they’d be in distress too.Poor baby.
Anyyywaaaayyyyssss I was a happy happy cat after the last checkup on Saturday. I missed seeing kiddo on the ultrasound. Skipped my appointment last month coz I was going to the government KK instead. Some weird turn of events occurred (well, actually my usual gynae went for a course, and the nurse did not call to inform me grrrr and I went to the hospital with the camera and all only to be told that the doc wasn’t around), and instead of scheduling for another day, I decided to go see the other resident gynae at the hospital. This doc was the famous one. I didn’t start off with her as she was always fully booked. Thank God she could spare a slot for me. I liked her and her consultation, and have now decided to continue with her
She took her time to explain to us about the onset of labor and what to do and what to feel and when to come to the hospital etc etc and yeah she did freak me out a bit coz she only made me realize more that the end is near!! Gahhh!!! But it was VERY educational nonetheless despite the many many books I read that informed me of the same thing but hearing it from a real person who is also willing to answer all dumb questions, understanding I’m a freaked-out first-timer somehow satisfies me.
During the scan I was also able to see the full features of little kiddo and boy did that make me happier than ever! She is as healthy as healthy can be, still very active even during the scan, showing us some of her antics like a preview of the kicks, the clenching of hands and opening and closing her mouth. She is the average size for her age; not too big or too small but just right and I am so happy to know that coz I was getting worried about how everyone’s telling me that I gained too little weight and the bump was too small. Now I can say “Hah she’s healthy and her size is just right so yeah I am lucky haha right back at ya” though of course I won’t say it THAT way or I would sound really rude hehe. The doc confirmed that kiddo is indeed a girl and allowed me to sue her if kiddo comes out a boy hehehe. Doc also cleared kiddo of cleft palate and any other abnormalities that can be seen from the ultrasound ALHAMDULILLAH for that I am sooooo grateful and thankful. I thought I even saw Daddy’s nose on her hehe and now I am wishing for his eyes too that would be soo cute.
The doc even advised me to cut down on my carbo intake as she’s really hoping I would be able to go in for a normal delivery and if the baby gets too big it would make it hard as I’m a first-timer and all. And I am soooo happy to get that advise ahahaha as all I’ve heard till now is people telling me to eat more. Now that I know kiddo’s doing fine, I can eat healthy but I don’t have to forcefully pig out yeay yeay!! Of course there are the usual advise to walk more, exercise a bit more (I hope to get a few more swim sessions in before I pop), not too much sugar intake, she also taught me how to lessen the annoying and excruciating back pain and how to get up the right way etc etc. Ahhh bliss….
On a different note, I finally know what those leg cramps in the middle of the night feels like hahahahaha. One struck me on Sunday, well it was already morning, but to be rudely awaken coz your calf cramped up is definitely NOT funny. I think I sprung up 90 degrees suddenly and grabbed hubbs, pointed to my leg hoping he’d get it hahahaha. And then I smothered my face with the pillow to avoid screaming. Damn it hurt!! Poor Daddy had to help me half-asleep hahaha that was a funny sight. And I hope it WON’T happen again. Hehehehe.
With the prospect of kiddo coming anytime she wishes to (there are days when I really think she’s starting to hate being inside me with all the pushing shoving kicking and twisting she’s doing nowadays and she may have dropped just a bit coz I am going to the toilet a lot more now) I should really start packing my hospital bag now right?? And we have also washed all her clothes, next is to get all her bedding clean and nice!
See you soon ‘lil kiddo!!
