13 weeks

How your baby’s growing: Your belly may soon be big enough to announce to the world that you’re expecting, but your baby is still tiny. In fact, he’s only about 3 inches long crown to rump — roughly the size of a jumbo shrimp — and weighs just about an ounce. Despite the small proportions, there’s a fully formed baby inside your womb now. Much more proportional than it was a few weeks ago, his head is now only about a third the size of his body. His tiny, unique fingerprints are already in place. His kidneys and urinary tract are functional, and he’s starting to urinate out the amniotic fluid he’s been swallowing. As you start your second trimester, most of your baby’s critical development will be completed, and your odds of miscarriage will drop considerably.

According to the site, this week will be my last week in the 1st trimester. In fact, I already passed the 3-months mark 5 days ago. Am I excited? Of course I am! I’ve read and also been told that after 3 months, the risk of miscarriage drops dramatically. Phew! And also, for most, the second trimester marks the end of morning sickness.
As of today, I already ‘tuang puasa’ for 8 days. *sigh*. The reason why I try sooo hard to puasa is because I SUCK at trying to replace puasa. Hahahahaha. And since the doc says I may puasa as long as I can take it. No need to worry about the baby, the baby will just take whatever it needs from my body. In the end, I will be the one lack of nutrition.

Since I got to know about my pregnancy at about 6-7 weeks, the ‘morning sickness’ thing started. Only for me it was more like ‘all-day sickness’. I puke ALMOST every single day. Almost meaning, in 7 days, perhaps I will be spared of 1. Heheheeh. There are days, when I only puke in the morning (fav time of the day, must-puke). There are also bad days, when I puke EVERY SINGLE TIME I eat. Really. Sometimes it seems impossible to keep anything down at all. My sinus worked up, with it comes sinus-induced migraine. I became soooo sensitive to dust, cold, whatever la. Any small thing will irritate the nose and get me started. And the fact that you can’t just pop any painkiller whenever the migraine comes along… now that was hard to take.

Since puasa started, seemeed like the puking toned down. I stopped puking daily. I thought that was the end of the sickness. But noooo it lasted only for a few days. Now, there’s sort of a pattern. Few days I will be fine, the next few days will be spent puking after buka, after sahur, and anytime in between that I eat. Suddenly, it felt a lot worse than the beginnings. My sinus is sooooo getting from bad to worse with me almost having permanent flus, and sneezing up at every little bit of dust and mites, and also cold or heat. Urrgghhhh. With the sinus, comes the headaches and the migraines which has become sooooo regular now! Why why why???

Not that I am complaining really. I just soooo *hope with fingers crossed* wish that it will go away soon enough, as they all say with being in the honeymoon trimester, the second one. I need to start gaining the weight, need to start eating better and feeling better, what with new jobs and all. And I am just documenting how I feel in this journey of mine. Coz it differs with everyone and every pregnancy and so this is my story. In the end, I know for sure this will all be worth it. Especially since I swear, I started feeling the little flutters and buzzing in my tummy, although perhaps only twice so far, and it felt so much like gas hahahaha. But I KNOW deep-down, that what I felt was kiddo, communicating with me for the very first time from within…..
